Belief

I used to have a hard time spelling that word, until my mother taught me a little trick:

There's a LIE in beLIEf

That got me thinking about what I believe in, and if I was really lying to myself about it.  However, my fall from grace started long before that...

When I was 5 years old, I was over at my cousins house and the movie Batman was playing on TV.  I don't remember any of the plot, but I do remember that whoever the villain was had brainwashed a bunch of people, and he was standing in front of this crowd who were repeating everything he said.

The first thought in my 5 year old mind was, "They must be at church."

Such a simple mistake for a 5 year old to make, but that thought has managed to stick with me all these years.

You Don't Need God...

New Billboards in Niagara Falls made possible by the Center for Inquiry in Amherst.

So true... let's just do the right thing because it's the right thing to do.  I don't understand why people not "of faith" get such a bad wrap from people who are religious.  My next post will sum up my beliefs in a nutshell and how I intend on translating that into parenting and explaining the dynamics of religion and beliefs to my children.

Let's Discuss...

I'm starting this blog simply to vent and/or discuss articles or goings on that I find interesting and/or ridiculous.  Most of it will probably about my alternative views on religion and politics, or a combination of both.  If you do end up reading this, please feel free to discuss it in the comment section.

Let's just start with a fun Doonesbury comic that makes me smile:
